Letter from Homer Burgess : Logos (The Word)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3 Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, It has been, since it’s inception, Finding Freedom Ranch’s conviction to seek the Word of God in and through all that we are doing. For as the verse states, “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made”. So if all things were created through Him, than all things were created for Him, and that includes you and me. All that has come into being exists for Christ, that is, it exists to show the glory and majesty of Christ. (John Piper) So as Finding Freedom Ranch has come to exist and continues to grow, it is all for the glory of Christ. Nothing in this universe exists for its own sake. Everything from the mountain peaks to the depths of the ocean floor, from a dust particle to the largest star in the solar system, from a saint to the most evil of dictators, and even from a cure for a deadly disease to an eating disorder. Everything that exists, exists to make the greatness of Christ more fully known. (John Piper) We at Finding Freedom Ranch ask that you will continue to pray for us, support us financially or however you see fit as we seek to make the greatness of Christ more fully known to those struggling with an eating disorder. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 IT’S ALL ABOUT HIM! Homer
Construction Update by Fred Hulst
Construction is underway at Finding Freedom Ranch. Fred Hulst provides us with an update on what’s been happening and what’s to come.
On October 17, 2022 Finding Freedom Ranch became the owners of approximately 9 acres of land in Moline, Michigan. I recall God’s hand in this. When Homer heeded God’s call back in January 2021, a small group of people prayed and looked for God’s guidance in where this ranch would be. We looked at one older farm house with 7 acres and possibilities and priced some other vacant land. Then in God’s providence a gentleman showed up in my office and said “I think I have a piece of ground for Finding Freedom Ranch.” Through a generous donation Finding Freedom Ranch became the owners. Since then Finding Freedom Ranch has continually seen God’s leading and guidance. At our March executive committee meeting, we voted to begin infrastructure work on the property as we had the funds to do this. We met with Oetman Excavating and decided we would like them to do this work. On May 31, 2023 we had a Prayer and Worship event at the property and dedicated the land to God and asked for his blessing. On June 20, excavation began, and now the sewer and water are installed. The street is in place and ready for asphalt. The site grading is completed for our first building, the barn and a pasture area. As soon as funds become available we will be able to put up our first building. Until all other buildings are complete, this building can be used by our mentors for a meeting place, for our Mom’s Group, and for our Transformed Bible Study Group.
A Glimpse of the Future
We are thrilled to share with you a collection of renderings giving us an exiting glimpse of what’s to come at Finding Freedom Ranch!

Transformed
From Transformed by Jennifer Smith Lane : The study is called Transformed because we are about to embark on a transformation journey together. A journey by definition takes you from one place to another and requires perseverance, determination, and grit on your part, but on this journey you will not be traveling alone. As you open your heart to God, He will be present to comfort, encourage, prune, lead, and ultimately transform you. Our road map comes from Romans 12:12 which says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”. Each session of this study has 7 different components utilized over a 5-day span that will help you expose worldly ideals and teach you practical strategies to help change the way you think and open the door for God to transform you inside and out.
Mom's Group
From Chapter One in Idol Lies by Dee Brestin : “Jesus wants us to turn from our paltry gods and trust Him to be our comfort, our control, and our approval. As the Stonecutter, He will break the painful stones of our heart and replace them with Himself. Ezekiel promises that God will change our heart of stone to a heart of flesh. When the stone “god” is removed, God’s Spirit is no longer grieved, and He comes to reign in us, producing glorious fruit.” Leader Stacy Huttenga writes : “Our first session was about learning to recognize our idols. Sometimes we aren’t aware of them until they’re pointed out to us just as Dee shares from her own personal experience. Dee brings us to the story of Mary and Martha and uses it to show us a different perspective. We so often look at Martha in a negative way but we are able to see her struggle with her idol of acceptance and control. Ones that we can relate to! We invite you to join us at any time as we continue in this book together.
