Eating disorders are a daily struggle for 10 million females in the United States. Four out of ten individuals have either personally experienced an eating disorder or know someone who has.
The average onset of eating disorder beliefs and behaviors begins in adolescence and since the pandemic, eating disorders in adolescent girls has more than doubled.
Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. With the young age of onset, it is ever more important that early intervention and effective treatment options are available and accessible for young women. If left untreated, eating disorders tend to become more severe and less receptive to treatment.
